Spencer Pratt, who recently conceded in the LA mayoral race, has joined forces with Kenneth Bass, the brother of LA Mayor Karen Bass, to sue the city over the destruction caused by the Palisades fire.
Palisades Fire Aftermath
The lawsuit, which also names the City of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, the state of California, the California Department of Parks and Recreation, and Southern California Edison as defendants, claims that the city’s negligence led to the destruction of homes, including Kenneth Bass’s Malibu home.
Pratt, who had previously accused the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power of making a ‘conscious decision to operate the water supply system with the reservoir drained and unusable as a ‘cost-saving’ measure’ during the deadly LA fires, expressed his support for the lawsuit on social media.
‘I am proud to be teaming up with Karen Bass’ brother in suing his sister for her reckless negligence that led to the destruction of our homes,’ Pratt posted on X.
Response from the Mayor’s Office
A representative for Mayor Bass stated that ‘there’s nothing new here — Mayor Bass has spoken of her brother’s loss publicly since January of 2025.’ The representative also noted that ‘thousands of people are plaintiffs in this action, which names 18 public and private sector defendants. The City Attorney’s Office is responsible for defending the City and DWP in this lawsuit.’
