South Warren completed a perfect season, beating Bullitt East 8-0 in the KHSAA State Softball Championship on Saturday at UK’s John Cropp Stadium. The Lady Spartans finished 2026 with a perfect 45-0 record, while Bullitt East finished 32-5.
Championship Game
Lady Chargers starter Mackenzie Mingus struck out four Spartans in six innings, but South Warren broke through for two runs in the bottom of the third and added three in the fourth and three in the sixth. South Warren pitcher Courtney Norwood held Bullitt East to just two hits.
The team’s success is attributed to their selflessness and faith. As one of the team members noted, ‘God is the Almighty. He’s gotten us here. And without believing and faith in that, we don’t get here.’ The team became selfless and started fighting for each other, which led to their phenomenal season.
