Tim Green, a candidate for City Council District 4 in the June 27 special election, believes the city needs someone who understands growth. As a homebuilder with 35 years of experience and a former firefighter, Green thinks he has the insight to know what Lubbock needs.
Background and Experience
Green’s background in homebuilding has given him the knowledge to understand how growth works and what directions Lubbock needs to grow. He also knows the people in the city who oversee permits and codes. Additionally, his experience as a firefighter has taught him the importance of public safety.
Green described himself as a “faithful” person and said his purpose in life was to take care of his late wife, who passed away two-and-a-half years ago. He now sees his candidacy as a new calling and purpose in life.
Platform and Issues
Green’s focus is on protecting citizens by keeping rates low, helping develop infrastructure and growth, and public safety. He believes that infrastructure, such as roads and water, is necessary for new growth in Lubbock. He also thinks that the city’s crime rate is too high and that the police department needs more patrol officers.
Regarding data centers, Green said he has done a lot of studying on the issue and cannot take a categorical stand until he sees a proposal. He noted that each proposal is different and that issues like noise, light pollution, water, and power need to be considered.
