US, Venezuela Collaborate to Kill Notorious Gang Leader

The US and Venezuela collaborated to kill Héctor Rusthenford Guerrero Flores, also known as ‘Niño Guerrero’, the top leader of the notorious Tren de Aragua gang. The gang was designated a Foreign Terrorist Organization by the US early in President Trump’s second term.

Background of Niño Guerrero

Niño Guerrero was born in Maracay, Venezuela in 1983. His criminal record began in 2005 when he was arrested for murder. He escaped from prison in 2012 but was recaptured in 2013. After his recapture, Tren de Aragua began to expand its influence, eventually controlling the San Vicente neighborhood in Maracay.

In 2016, Guerrero Flores was sentenced to 17 years in prison for various crimes, including intentional homicide and drug trafficking. However, he vanished from prison in 2023 and remained a fugitive until his death.

US and Venezuela Collaboration

The US and Venezuela collaborated to gather intelligence and provide technical support to kill Guerrero Flores. The attack was described as ‘swift and lethal’ by President Trump.

Tren de Aragua has been involved in various criminal activities, including drug trafficking and terrorism. The gang has a presence in several countries in the region, including Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and Chile.
