Louisville’s Metro Council has approved an ordinance allowing administrative search warrants. This new type of warrant enables building inspectors and code enforcement officers to enter properties for inspections to determine compliance with city codes and regulations.

Officers will need to obtain written approval from their agency director to get one of these warrants and must prove prior notice was given to the property’s occupant.
