A basket-shaped office building, formerly the headquarters of Longaberger, a basket-making company, has been put on the market for $8.5 million. The seven-storey building, located in Newark, Ohio, offers 180,000 sq ft of office space and features a media room, on-site workout facility, and glass elevators overlooking the atrium.

Building Features

The property, designed to resemble one of the firm’s products, includes heated underground executive parking and parking for 555 vehicles. It is designed to support more than 500 employees and features locally sourced woodwork that adds warmth and character to the space.

At its peak, Longaberger employed more than 8,200 people. However, a combination of recession and changing home decor buying tastes saw the company decline. In 2018, the company ceased operations.

Social media users have reacted to the news of the sale listing, with some suggesting potential uses for the building, such as a senior community or a casino and restaurant.
