HUD Takes 15 Fair Housing Actions

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced 15 recent fair housing enforcement actions, saying the cases address allegations ranging from sexual harassment to disability discrimination and violations of protections for domestic violence survivors.

Enforcement Actions

According to HUD, the actions include charges, settlements and other remedies involving alleged discrimination against families with children, failures to provide accommodations for people with disabilities, sexual harassment claims, and violations of federal housing protections.

HUD Secretary Scott Turner said the enforcement actions are aimed at protecting Americans facing housing discrimination and ensuring compliance with federal fair housing laws.

The Fair Housing Act prohibits discrimination in housing based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status and disability.

Individuals who believe they have experienced housing discrimination may file a complaint through HUD’s fair housing reporting process.
