In a disturbing incident that occurred two years ago, a bull named Party Bus jumped over an arena fence and into the crowd at the Sisters Rodeo in Oregon, injuring two spectators. The incident has now led to two lawsuits being filed against the rodeo and its livestock contractor, seeking over $11 million in combined damages.
Lawsuits Filed
Bend resident Allison Hickey is seeking $9.25 million in damages, alleging that the bull knocked her to the ground, crushing her right shoulder and right calf. Hickey stated that she filed the lawsuit not only for herself but also to ensure that no one else, especially children or the elderly, has to endure what she has.
The second lawsuit was filed by Ridgefield, Washington residents Kristin and Andrew Wert, who are seeking over $2 million in damages. The complaint states that Kristin Wert was violently attacked from behind, bucked into the air, and trampled when Party Bus jumped the fence into the crowded bleachers.
The livestock contractor, Corey and Lange, has denied the allegations, arguing that the Sisters Rodeo Association bears primary responsibility for any injuries and damages. The Sisters Rodeo Association has not responded to a request for comment.
