Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Adolis Garcia left a game against the Toronto Blue Jays with a pulled shoulder muscle. Garcia, who signed a one-year, $10 million contract with Philadelphia in the offseason, has struggled at the plate this season, hitting .195 with seven home runs and 21 RBIs in 67 games.
Garcia’s Injury
Garcia pulled a muscle in his right shoulder after catching a fly ball in right field and rushing a throw home in an attempt to retire George Springer, who was tagging up from third base. He bent over in pain, grabbing at his right shoulder area, and left the game after being examined by Philadelphia’s trainers.
“We’ll probably get some imaging (Thursday), find out the true severity of it,” Phillies manager Don Mattingly said postgame. “Hope for the best and see what happens.” Garcia has been an asset on defense, ranking among the major league leaders with four outfield assists.
