The residents at Wakonda Club in Des Moines are doing their part to help the Principal Charity Classic make a major impact. The 11th annual Party on the Hill was hosted by Jim Carney at his house near the fifth fairway, part of an area referred to as Wakonda Park.

Carney, along with five other organizers, uses the party as a way to increase fundraising for the annual Champions Tour stop in central Iowa. The event has averaged around $200,000 over the past 11 years, which is passed on to the PCC Foundation. Last year they raised $250,000.
The money raised by Party on the Hill is passed on to the PCC Foundation, which distributes that money to children’s charities across Iowa. Last year, the Principal Charity Classic raised a record-breaking total of $10.6 million for Iowa youth.
According to Brad Winterbottom, treasurer of the event, ‘Principal is a proud employee of our state and city; we wanted to help them. The neighbors wanted to help them. What better way than to raise money and provide a little more to their coffers.’
