A San Antonio couple, Chris and Susan, experienced aggression while attending a Yankees-Red Sox game in New York. The couple said they were verbally harassed by a group of men who appeared to be Knicks fans. The men spoke in Spanish in a mocking tone and circled the couple, saying ‘Knicks in 4, Knicks in 4.’ This incident occurred even though the couple was not wearing any Spurs gear, instead wearing Yankees gear.
Warning to Fellow Fans
The couple had been warned not to wear Spurs gear in New York, but they had packed their Victor Wembanyama jerseys anyway. However, they decided not to wear them due to the hostile atmosphere. They advise fellow Spurs fans traveling to New York to be extremely careful if they decide to wear their Spurs apparel in public. ‘Trust your instincts,’ Susan said. ‘Your instincts are usually right.’
The couple’s experience was not an isolated incident. Several viral videos have circulated on social media showing Spurs fans being attacked in New York following the team’s win. The couple saw one of the videos featuring a man they had met earlier, who was wearing a Tim Duncan jersey and was attacked by a group of people.
