According to Ricos CEO Tony Liberto, the idea to purchase the billboard space came after the Spurs lost to the Knicks and went down 0-2 in the NBA Finals series. Liberto initially had reservations about the idea but decided to go ahead with it to show support for the team.
The billboard, which is 31 feet by 51 feet, will run multiple times per hour leading up to Game 4 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday. Ricos is celebrating its 50 years of providing nachos to ballparks and saw this as an opportunity to have some fun and support the Spurs.
