Cincinnati Council Finalizes Budget

Cincinnati city council members are in the final stages of approving a budget to address a nearly $30 million deficit. The budget focuses on spending cuts, revenue increases, and funding priorities.

Key Budget Points

The mayor and city manager’s current budget proposal includes approximately $20 million in spending cuts, which would leave some vacant positions unfilled. It also aims to generate more than $17 million in revenue through increased income taxes. Public safety is a top priority in the budget, with $26 million allocated to Cincinnati police and $7.5 million for the fire department.

Councilmember Jeff Cramerding said feedback from public hearings and surveys has influenced the budget’s direction. The final budget is scheduled to be approved on June 30.
