A San Antonio high school student and his father, who are illegal immigrants, have been detained at the Dilley detention center for more than three weeks.
Local Representative Calls for Release
U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro, D-San Antonio, is calling on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to release the pair. Castro met with the teen, Alejandro, and his father, Jairo, on May 26 during an inspection of the detention center. Alejandro told Castro he misses his mother and is having trouble eating.
According to Castro, Alejandro was on his way to a soccer game when ICE agents surrounded his home and detained him and his father. The teen has missed his final days of 10th grade as a result of his detention.
