The Vallivue School District board approved a 1.75% pay increase for Superintendent Lisa Boyd, raising her salary to $179,088. The board also accepted the resignation of Trustee Toni Brinegar, effective Friday.
Investigation into Land Purchase
The district is under investigation by the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office for a 2024 land purchase from a trustee’s father. The purchase price was $5 million, despite an appraisal of $2.87 million. Trustee Clay Christensen, the son of the seller, voted to raise Boyd’s salary.
A district patron, Becky Crofts, criticized the superintendent and board for the purchase, calling it ‘questionable’ and saying it has damaged taxpayer trust. The investigation is ongoing, and the sheriff’s office has not released details.
Brinegar said her resignation is unrelated to the land deal and that she had been planning to leave for two years. The district will accept applications to replace her until August 6.
