Target Recalls Baby Wipes Due to Bacteria Contamination

Target is recalling specific types of its ‘Up & Up’ brand of baby wipes following customer complaints of skin irritation and product discoloration.

Recall Details

According to a recall announcement on the Food and Drug Administration’s website, testing revealed the presence of two different types of bacteria in product samples of the fragrance-free and cucumber-scented wipes. These bacteria pose a major risk to immunocompromised people and children, as infections in these cases are more likely to spread to the bloodstream.

The recall applies to the following products: Up & Up Fragrance Free Baby Wipes and Up & Up Fresh Cucumber-Scented Baby Wipes in various count sizes. The FDA says customers should immediately stop using these products and return them to Target for a full refund.
