Luigi Mangione, 28, stands accused of the assassination, which took place outside a Manhattan Hilton hotel on December 4, 2024. The 50-year-old Thompson, a father of two from Minnesota, was shot on video just before a planned investor conference. The silencer, reportedly 3D-printed, demonstrates a high level of mechanical engineering skill, according to investigators.
Retired Detective Sgt.
