Adamu Williams, a 25-year-old resident of Cincinnati’s Hartwell neighborhood, is facing a series of serious charges following an alleged assault and a subsequent police chase that spanned multiple counties. Williams is scheduled to appear in Hamilton County Municipal Court for arraignment on Monday morning.
Alleged Assault Incident
The charges stem from an incident on June 2 in Springdale, where Williams is accused of assaulting his girlfriend. According to court documents, the altercation began after Williams reportedly went through his girlfriend’s phone, leading to a violent confrontation. The victim told police that Williams punched her, used a firearm to strike her, and strangled her until she lost consciousness.
Multi-County Police Chase
Following the alleged assault, police searched for Williams for four days. On June 6, Lockland officers spotted his vehicle on Interstate 75 in Evendale. Williams reportedly refused to stop, initiating a police chase that extended into Butler County and back toward Cincinnati. During the pursuit, authorities claim Williams had passengers in the vehicle whom he threatened and refused to allow to exit.
The chase concluded near the Paddock Road exit in Carthage when Williams allegedly crashed into several vehicles. He then fled on foot but was apprehended by Cincinnati officers shortly thereafter.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
Williams faces a total of 19 charges, including felonious assault, strangulation, domestic violence, kidnapping, resisting arrest, and drug trafficking. Police reports indicate that at the time of his arrest, Williams was found in possession of cocaine, fentanyl, and Xanax.
The community will be closely watching as Williams appears in court to answer these charges, which highlight significant concerns about public safety and the legal system’s response to such incidents.
