New Mexico Restores Hotline for Reporting Abuse of Disabled Individuals

The New Mexico Health Care Authority is reinstating a hotline dedicated to reporting abuse and neglect of individuals with disabilities. This service, set to resume on July 1, aims to provide a more efficient means for residents to report any suspected mistreatment of those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Streamlined Reporting Process

By dialing the toll-free number 800-445-6242, callers will connect directly to intake specialists within the Division of Health Improvement Incident Management Bureau. This direct line is designed to eliminate unnecessary delays by bypassing additional transfers or intermediary steps, ensuring that reports reach investigators more swiftly.

In addition to the hotline, the New Mexico Health Care Authority has announced that online reports submitted through their website will also be directly routed to the Incident Management Bureau starting July 1. This dual approach is intended to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the reporting process.

More detailed information on how to report suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation can be found on the New Mexico Health Care Authority’s official website.
