Jessie Clayton and George Torres Win Buda City Council Seats in Unofficial Count

Buda residents will see two new faces on the city council after unofficial vote tallies released this week. Jessie Clayton captured the Single Member, District B seat with more than 70% of the ballots cast, and George M. Torres Jr. maintained a clear lead for the At‑Large, Position 1 seat with 52.10% of the vote.

Unofficial vote totals

According to the latest figures posted by Hays County, Clayton’s margin over challenger Irving Davis stands at 72.78% to 27.22% in early voting, and the final unofficial count still shows her with a commanding lead of over 70%.

Torres Jr.’s At‑Large race also reflects a solid advantage. Early voting gave him 52.24% of the vote, with Jess‑Ebee Ebisch at 24.23% and Joshua Edmond at 23.53%. The most recent unofficial total lists Torres at 52.10%, Ebisch at 24.30%, and Edmond at 23.61%.

Candidate reactions

Torres Jr. told Community Impact he was “deeply honored and humbled by the trust the people of Buda have placed in me to serve in At‑Large, Position 1.” He added that he looks forward to working with fellow council members to keep Buda “a thriving, vibrant home for us all.”

Attempts to reach Jessie Clayton for comment went unanswered at press time, but her decisive lead suggests strong community support for her platform.

Other council races

The Buda City Council also has an uncontested race for the At‑Large, Position 2 seat, where incumbent Monica Davidson is running unopposed.

All three seats—District B, At‑Large Position 1, and At‑Large Position 2—are up for election this cycle, shaping the future direction of the city’s governance.

What’s next?

Ballots closed at 7 p.m. on November 4, and voters still in line at that time were allowed to cast their votes. The unofficial numbers will remain provisional until the results are officially canvassed on November 9.
