Baltimore Weekend Guide: Toy Expo, BrewFest, Chili Cookoff and More

Looking for ways to spend a warm, community‑focused weekend in Baltimore? The city’s cultural calendar is full of activities that cater to families, hobbyists, and anyone who enjoys a good time with neighbors.

Arts and Education

Seeing Like a Naturalist: Sketching Waterfowl – Thursday, Nov. 5, 5:30‑7:30 p.m. at the Maryland Center for History and Culture. Baltimore artist Asho Buckingham leads a free, hands‑on workshop where adults study the form, color and movement of waterfowl before creating their own painted studies.

Science Slam – Saturday, Nov. 7, 3‑5 p.m. at Red Emma’s Bookstore Coffeehouse. The Baltimore Under Ground Science Space (BUGSS) presents rapid‑fire talks from local scientists, offering a lively glimpse into current research.

Holiday Market and Music

Holiday Night Market at The Valley – Friday, Nov. 6 through Friday, Nov. 20 at Hunt Valley Towne Centre. Three festive Friday evenings feature local makers, seasonal foods, drinks and holiday music to get shoppers in the spirit.

Shéhérazade & Sibelius – Sunday, Nov. 8, 3 p.m. at Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. BSO Music Director Jonathon Heyward and mezzo‑soprano Fleur Barron present orchestral works, including Grace‑Evangeline Mason’s “Ablaze the Moon” and Ravel’s “Shéhérazade.”

Afghan Whigs – Sunday, Nov. 8, 7:30 p.m. at Baltimore Soundstage. The band continues its Soft Control Tour 2026 with special guest Night Moves.

Family‑Friendly Fun

Maryland Toy Expo – Saturday, Nov. 7, 8 a.m.‑5 p.m. at the Maryland State Fairgrounds. Collectors can browse and purchase toys, comic books, trading cards and other treasures.

Patterson Park BrewFest – Saturday, Nov. 7, 12‑4 p.m. at Patterson Park. Friends of Patterson Park host the 9th annual BrewFest with more than 40 local beers, food trucks, craft vendors and live music.

Stars, Stripes and Chow Chili Cookoff – Saturday, Nov. 7, 1‑4:30 p.m. at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. The Baltimore Station’s 12th annual chili competition raises funds for homeless veterans seeking self‑sufficiency. Teams vie for People’s Choice, Judge’s Choice and Best Theme awards.

Faith and Reflection

Waterfall Dances: Jane Goodall in Memoriam – Friday, Nov. 6, 7:30 p.m. at St. David’s Church. Organist Douglas Buchanan performs pieces inspired by nature in honor of Jane Goodall, a year after her passing. Admission is free with a suggested donation.

Comedy Night

Ron White – Friday, Nov. 6, doors open at 7 p.m., show starts at 8 p.m. at The Lyric. The comedian, known as “Tater Salad,” brings his trademark humor to a Baltimore audience.

Whether you’re looking to explore creativity, support veterans, enjoy live music or simply sip a locally brewed ale, Baltimore’s weekend lineup offers something for every family and neighbor. Mark your calendars and make the most of the city’s vibrant community spirit.
