Green Bay Rockers Secure Extra-Inning Victory Over Dock Spiders

The Green Bay Rockers showcased their resilience in a nail-biting 5-4 victory against the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders in Ashwaubenon. This marks their second extra-inning game of the season, highlighting the team’s tenacity and skill.

Game Highlights

Starting pitcher Max Wagar delivered an impressive performance, pitching six innings of one-hit ball without allowing an earned run. His strong start set the tone for the Rockers, who initially took the lead in the second inning. Mike Dee’s RBI groundout and Dom Bello’s RBI single put Green Bay ahead 2-0.

The Dock Spiders responded by tying the game with runs in the sixth and seventh innings. The game remained deadlocked until the tenth inning when Fond du Lac briefly took the lead. However, Zach Novakowski’s clutch RBI triple in the bottom half of the inning brought the Rockers back into contention.

In the eleventh inning, Eli Selga’s RBI single, complemented by Furcal Jr.’s agile swim move at home plate, tied the game once more. Ricky Howell’s stellar two-inning performance on the mound, allowing no earned runs, kept the Rockers in the game.

The decisive moment came in the twelfth inning when Furcal Jr. hit a sacrifice fly to right field, allowing John Handy to score the winning run. This victory advances the Rockers to a 6-4 record early in the season.

Looking Ahead

The Rockers are set to return home on Thursday, June 11th, to face the Lakeshore Chinooks. Fans can look forward to the first pitch at 6:35 p.m., as the team aims to build on their recent success.
