Lakeview K‑8 Academy in Kenosha is preparing a special afternoon of music to recognize the men and women who have served our nation. On Thursday, Nov. 12, from 3:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., the school’s fifth‑grade class will perform a Veterans concert in the school auditorium.
Student‑Led Tribute
The young performers have spent weeks rehearsing a program that blends patriotism with a celebration of America’s diversity. The concert will open with the National Anthem, followed by an Armed Forces Medley that moves through the songs of each military branch. The medley is a long‑standing tradition at Veterans Day events, honoring the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard and Space Force.
After the medley, the students will take the audience on a musical journey through all 50 states, highlighting the unique cultural contributions each state brings to the nation. The program is designed to showcase the gratitude and respect the children feel for those who protect our freedoms.
Community Participation
Members of the Color Guard from Paul Herrick American Legion Post 21 will present the colors during the ceremony, adding a solemn and respectful element to the proceedings. “This is a very special group of fifth‑grade students who have put tremendous time, effort, and heart into this performance,” said Lisa Dittlof, a school representative who provided details to the local press. “They are truly grateful for the sacrifices our veterans have made to protect our freedoms and our country.”
Dittlof added, “We look forward to sharing this meaningful afternoon of music, patriotism, and gratitude as we honor our veterans through song.” The concert follows the national observance of Veterans Day on Nov. 11, offering families and community members an additional opportunity to express thanks.
Why It Matters
Events like this reinforce the bond between younger generations and those who have served, fostering a sense of civic responsibility and appreciation for the sacrifices made on behalf of the nation. By involving students directly, the school helps instill values of respect, gratitude, and patriotism that align with the community’s traditions and faith‑based emphasis on honoring service.
The concert is open to the public, and families are encouraged to attend and join the students in celebrating the contributions of local veterans. For more information, contact Lakeview K‑8 Academy or visit the school’s website.
