Natrona County Voters Retain All Three Judges in 2026 Retention Election

Casper, Wyoming — Voters in Natrona County went to the polls on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, and affirmed the continued service of all judges whose seats were up for retention. The results, while still unofficial pending certification by county and state canvassing boards, show decisive support for each jurist.

Seventh District judges retained

Two Seventh District judges faced retention questions. Judge Kerri M. Johnson received 14,629 votes in favor of staying on the bench and 4,109 votes against. Judge Daniel Forgey earned 14,211 votes supporting his retention and 4,837 votes opposing it. Both judges cleared the required threshold comfortably, reflecting confidence from the community they serve.

Circuit Court judge also retained

Judge Cynthia Sweet of the Seventh District Circuit Court was similarly affirmed, garnering 14,284 votes in favor and 4,052 votes against. Her continued service will maintain stability in the circuit court’s docket, which handles a broad range of civil and criminal matters for the region.

Wyoming Supreme Court justices keep their seats

Two justices of the Wyoming Supreme Court appeared on the ballot. Justice Bridget Hill received 45,918 votes supporting her retention and 13,707 votes against. Justice Robert C. Jarosh earned 44,784 votes in favor and 13,850 votes opposed. Their retention ensures continuity at the state’s highest court, where decisions shape Wyoming law for years to come.

What retention elections mean for voters

Retention elections give the public a direct voice in whether sitting judges should continue serving. Unlike contested races, no opponent appears on the ballot; voters simply answer “yes” or “no” to each judge’s continued service. A simple majority of “yes” votes is required for a judge to remain in office.

The strong majorities recorded in Natrona County suggest that residents are satisfied with the performance of their judiciary. Judges who oversee local courts play a crucial role in upholding the rule of law, protecting constitutional rights, and ensuring that families receive fair treatment in the legal system.

Next steps

County and state canvassing boards will review the vote totals and certify the results in the coming weeks. Once certified, the retained judges will continue their terms without interruption. The next round of judicial retention elections in Wyoming is scheduled for 2028.
