The City of Davenport, Iowa, is on the lookout for a new Director of Parks and Recreation following the resignation of Chad Dyson, who will step down on June 10. Dyson, who has been with the department since 2018, is set to take on a new role outside the state.
Dyson’s Contributions to Davenport
During his tenure, Dyson made significant contributions to the community, enhancing the quality of life for Davenport residents. He was instrumental in the development of multi-sports courts and obstacle courses, as well as the popular Fejervary Holiday Lights display. His leadership also saw the introduction of the ‘Party in the Park’ initiative and the establishment of volunteer committees dedicated to maintaining recreational trails and dog parks.
Dyson expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve the Davenport community, stating, “I’m forever grateful for the opportunity to serve this community. I’m especially proud of the impact our team has had on improving the quality of life for people in Davenport.”
Transition and Interim Leadership
In the wake of Dyson’s departure, Becca Niles, the Senior Administrative Services Manager, will assume the role of interim director. The city will soon begin the search for a permanent replacement to continue the work and initiatives Dyson has championed.
