The Bluhawk development, a rapidly expanding mixed‑use hub in southern Overland Park, announced two new restaurant openings that will broaden the destination’s dining choices for residents and visitors alike.
Five Four Restaurant & Drafthouse arrives
Five Four Restaurant & Drafthouse, a locally owned Kansas City‑based concept, will open its third Johnson County location at Bluhawk. The menu features items such as double‑smashed cheeseburgers, prime‑rib French dip sandwiches, chicken fried chicken, and spinach‑and‑artichoke pasta. The bar will serve a range of craft cocktails, including palomas, Aperol spritzes, champagne margaritas, and “Cuban” mojitos.
Michael Norsworthy, owner of Five Four, said, “Kansas City has been an important part of our growth, and Bluhawk gives us an opportunity to build on that presence in a location with a strong mix of sports, retail and entertainment. We’re excited to become part of what’s taking shape here and serve both the surrounding community and visitors from across the region.”
La Madeleine opens its first Johnson County franchise
French bakery and café chain La Madeleine will also open a new outlet in the Bluhawk development, marking its first franchise in Johnson County. Franchisee Eddie Musallet, who also operates local grocer El Mercado Fresco, World Fresh Market in Overland Park, and Fresh Market in Shawnee, said, “As we look to grow La Madeleine in the Kansas City market, Bluhawk stood out as a prime location for the brand. The development’s reach and continued momentum make it a natural fit for connecting new guests and establishing a presence in the region.”
La Madeleine’s menu includes toasted caprese sandwiches, French onion soup, egg‑and‑cheese crêpes, chicken cordon bleu pasta, as well as sweets such as macarons and crème brûlée. Coffee drinks like cappuccinos, mochas and lattes will also be available.
Bluhawk’s broader food and retail mix
The two new eateries join a growing roster of businesses slated for the Bluhawk site, which sits off U.S. Highway 69 and 159th Street. Upcoming additions include Kansas City‑based Bruu Café, a boba‑tea shop, and Billie’s Grocery, an organic eatery.
Kent Price, president of Price Brothers – the developer and manager of Bluhawk – said, “Five Four Restaurant & Drafthouse and La Madeleine each bring something different to Bluhawk and complement the mix we’re building across the development. Whether they’re here for a tournament, shopping or meeting for a meal, these additions give guests another reason to stay, explore and experience more of the destination.”
The new restaurants are expected to create jobs and draw additional foot traffic to the area, supporting the development’s goal of becoming a regional hub for sports, shopping, and entertainment.
