Teenager Killed, Three Injured in Shooting at California High School Graduation

A tragic incident unfolded at Fairfield High School, located approximately 50 miles northeast of San Francisco, when a shooting occurred following a graduation ceremony. The event, which took place on Wednesday evening, resulted in the death of an 18-year-old and injuries to three others, including an 11-year-old child and two adults aged 20 and 25.

Community in Shock

The shooting happened around 7:15 p.m. in the school’s parking lot, as photographs were being taken. Witnesses described a chaotic scene, with people screaming and running for safety. Amanda Prieto, a local resident whose son attends the school, recounted her immediate fear upon hearing the shots. Her husband, Luis Prieto, noted the swift response of emergency services, with patrol vehicles and ambulances quickly arriving on the scene.

Ongoing Investigation

Fairfield Police Department, represented by Officer Michelle Belyea, confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, and there is currently no information suggesting an ongoing threat to the community. Authorities have yet to release details about any suspects involved in the shooting.

The Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District, which oversees Sem Yeto High School sharing the campus with Fairfield High, expressed their condolences and assured that more information would be shared as it becomes available.
