The Compass Community Center in Palm Beach County is marking Pride Month with a variety of events aimed at celebrating and supporting the LGBTQ community. The center, known for its year-round resources and services, is hosting several activities throughout June.
Local Events Highlight Pride Month
Julie Seaver, CEO of Compass Community Center, and Abbott Rivera, Development Coordinator, shared details about the upcoming events. These include Pride Night at the Meat Market, Pride on the Block at The Peach in West Palm Beach, and a gathering at the Historical Society of Palm Beach County. The celebrations will culminate with the Stonewall Ball on June 20th at the Kravis Center.
Stonewall Ball: A Celebration of Progress
The Stonewall Ball is a significant event that commemorates the Stonewall uprisings of 1969, considered the first Pride. This year’s theme, ‘Lavender Lounge,’ invites attendees to enjoy a prohibition-era speakeasy atmosphere with jewel tones and vintage attire. The event will feature a VIP reception and a lively dance party with an exciting entertainment lineup.
Seaver emphasized the importance of visibility and community support, noting that while Pride Month is celebrated in June, Compass provides essential services throughout the year to ensure individuals feel seen and supported.
Supporting the Community
For those interested in attending the Stonewall Ball or other events, tickets can be purchased through the Compass website. The center’s efforts during Pride Month highlight the progress made in LGBTQ rights and the ongoing work needed to achieve equality.
