An Indianapolis resident, Michael Cable, has been charged with intimidating a judge after allegedly sending threatening letters to Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Loretta Rush. Cable, 52, who has a history of similar offenses, claims to be ‘the last grandson of Jesus Christ.’
Threatening Letters
Cable’s letters, sent last month, contained bizarre statements about aliens and threats of violence against Justice Rush’s family. In one letter, he mentioned preparing for decades to enact revenge on those he believes wronged his family, expressing violent intentions.
Another letter included the statement, ‘And since you assume Jesus is going to save you at the last minute; let’s stop here…because that’s not going to happen. Just call it the Anti-Christ, since I am the judge and jury of mankind.’
Legal Proceedings
Cable also sent a self-styled ‘legal document’ to the Indiana Capitol, proclaiming himself as the ‘judge and jury of mankind’ and asserting his sovereignty over the state’s highest court. This led to increased security for Chief Justice Rush and a court-ordered competency evaluation for Cable.
Cable was arrested on May 15, but his initial hearing has been delayed due to his disruptive behavior in court. He is currently held in the Marion County Jail and could face up to six years in prison if convicted.
