A vegetation fire erupted in Fallbrook Tuesday afternoon and prompted evacuation and shelter-in-place orders for nearby communities. The blaze is being called the Live Oak Fire.
The fire started near Live Oak Park Road and Gum Tree Lane in Fallbrook at around 4:23 p.m.
Evacuation orders were issued for the area near Gum Tree Lane. Residents in that zone were told to leave the area immediately.
Nearby communities also received shelter-in-place orders. Officials advised people in those areas to stay indoors and keep windows and doors closed.
Authorities have not released additional details about the size of the fire or any injuries. Residents should follow local alerts and emergency instructions.
