The Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce announced that applications for the 2027 Leadership Sheridan County class will be accepted online beginning Thursday, October 1. Prospective participants have until October 31 to submit their materials through the Chamber’s website.
About the program
Founded in 1993, Leadership Sheridan County was created to fill a need for a structured community‑leadership development experience. The inaugural class of 12 members graduated in January 1994, and since then the program has produced nearly 500 alumni who have gone on to serve in a variety of civic, business, and nonprofit roles throughout the county.
The 10‑month curriculum combines classroom‑style training with hands‑on exposure to Sheridan County’s government, history, economy, culture, and educational systems. Participants attend a one‑day retreat, seven full‑day modules, and an overnight trip to Cheyenne, where they gain a broader perspective on regional issues.
Eligibility and sponsorship
Anyone age 18 or older who demonstrates a desire to learn more about Sheridan County from both economic and cultural perspectives may apply. The Chamber encourages local businesses, public and private agencies, civic organizations, and other groups to sponsor individuals who show leadership potential. Applicants must have the support and commitment of their employer to meet the program’s requirements.
