Texarkana Hosts a Variety of Community Events and Summer Camps

Texarkana is bustling with community activities and summer camps that cater to all ages and interests. The Texarkana Public Library will kick off its Summer Reading program with a party featuring food vendors, a bounce house, and local art on display. This event is set for Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Community Events

The Salvation Army Red Shield Youth Centers, in collaboration with Big Dam Waterpark, will host the Hope RUSH ‘Fun’raiser on Saturday. This event includes a Duck Race and Decorate-a-Duck Challenge, with proceeds funding scholarships for homeless youths. The event runs from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

For those interested in arts and crafts, ColorHype TXK is organizing Paint and Sip events at various locations, including Redbone Magic Brewing and The Primary Commons. These events provide an opportunity to enjoy painting sessions with themes such as ‘Blue Willow Blooms’ and ‘Beach Babes.’

The Scholars will present ‘Keeping History Alive’ at Arkansas High School on June 6, featuring African Dance and Drums, an Author Showcase, and a Cultural Fashion Showcase.

Summer Camps

Summer camps are also in full swing. The Salvation Army Red Shield Youth Center offers a Summer Space Camp, providing meals and snacks for less than $65 a week. TexRep is hosting a Drama Camp where children can participate in a production of Disney’s ‘Newsies Jr. The Broadway Musical.’

Texarkana Arkansas Parks and Recreation is organizing several camps, including a motorsports camp and an art expression camp. These camps are designed for children aged 6 to 13 and offer a variety of activities to engage young minds.

Music and More

Music lovers can enjoy performances at local venues such as Fat Jack’s and Twisted Fork Grill & Bar. The Wild Hare will host a Bass & Bikinis EDM event featuring performances by Blare and others.

For those interested in history and culture, the Texarkana Museums System invites visitors to explore the Museum of Regional History. The Ace of Clubs House offers Wreath Making Parlor Lessons, providing a creative outlet for participants.
