Casper, WY – The beloved Funky Junk Fall Edition returns to downtown Casper on Saturday, Sept. 19, offering a free, family‑friendly day of food, music and local commerce at David Street Station (200 South David). The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and promises a vibrant showcase of over 100 vendors, craft beverages, food trucks and live performances.
Supporting Local Creators and Small Businesses
Festival creator Whitney Asay emphasized the event’s role in giving artisans and entrepreneurs a platform to reach the community. “Funky Junk gives a lot of people that don’t have a brick‑and‑mortar shop the opportunity to make good money and get their art and wares out to the community,” Asay said. She added that the event has built a “family of vendors” who look forward to returning each year.
Asay highlighted the importance of supporting local and small businesses, noting that the festival provides a “home base a couple times a year” for creators who might otherwise struggle to find regular market space.
Live Music Lineup Highlights Regional Talent
The Fall Edition will feature a diverse musical lineup, including local acts Sparrow Bones, Kaspen Haley, 1620, and the genre‑blending band Golden Hour from Jackson, Wyoming. Asay described Golden Hour’s performance as “really cool, really unique and really, really funky,” noting the group’s three‑piece horn section and DJ set scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. slot.
Community Backing and Partnerships
The festival’s success is bolstered by support from the Downtown Development Authority, Jonah Bank of Wyoming, Vista Toyota and the Levitt Family Foundation, as well as the broader Casper community. Asay encouraged residents to explore downtown businesses, enjoy special offers, and support local restaurants while attending the event.
“Come explore and spend the whole day downtown,” she said. “We have a lot of businesses that open their doors and do specials, and restaurants and things like that. People are finding new things and new favorite artists, and they’re shopping and just spending time together.”
