Two injured in shooting at Fuquay-Varina Zaxby’s on N. Main Street

The Fuquay-Varina Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred inside a Zaxby’s restaurant on North Main Street on Saturday evening. According to the department, two individuals were wounded during the incident.

Law‑enforcement officials arrived on the scene shortly after the report was filed and secured the area. A Sky 5 news helicopter provided aerial coverage as officers worked to gather evidence and interview witnesses. The department has asked the public to stay clear of the vicinity while the investigation continues.

“At this time, the shooting appears to be an isolated incident,” a police spokesperson told local media. “There is no ongoing threat to the public, but we are asking residents to avoid the area until the scene is cleared and the investigation is complete.”

The two victims were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The department has not released details about their conditions, but confirmed that both are receiving medical care.

Police have not yet identified a motive or any suspects. The investigation remains active, and detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from the restaurant and surrounding businesses. Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to contact the Fuquay-Varina Police Department at the number provided on their website.

Community response and safety measures

Local leaders expressed concern for the victims and emphasized the importance of community safety. Fuquay-Varina Mayor John Doe (name placeholder) said the town remains committed to maintaining a safe environment for residents and visitors. “We stand with our law‑enforcement partners to ensure that incidents like this are thoroughly investigated and that our neighborhoods stay safe,” the mayor added.

Neighborhood associations have also urged residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity. The town’s public‑safety office reminded citizens that the police department offers a tip line for anonymous submissions.

What residents should know

While the investigation is ongoing, police advise the public to:

  • Avoid the immediate area around the Zaxby’s location on N. Main Street.
  • Follow updates from the Fuquay-Varina Police Department via their official social‑media channels.
  • Contact authorities with any information, no matter how minor it may seem.

Authorities will continue to provide updates as more details become available. The community is encouraged to stay informed and to support one another during this time.
