Erie, Pennsylvania – September 10, 2026 – Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) announced that 653 members of its Class of 2026 have been placed in residency training programs across the United States, delivering a 99.9% match rate on Match Day held April 30.
Broad specialty placement reflects comprehensive training
LECOM graduates matched into a wide variety of specialties, including pediatrics, urology, psychiatry, internal medicine and many others. Placement sites ranged from Cooper University Hospital in New Jersey to the University of Virginia, with additional students securing positions in programs throughout multiple states.
Couples match and diverse career goals
The 2026 results also featured successful participation in the couples match, allowing two applicants to coordinate their residency selections. This outcome highlights the diverse circumstances and career aspirations represented within the graduating class.
Institutional support and preparation
According to LECOM, the high match rate is the product of years of academic preparation, clinical training, mentorship and professional development designed to support students from day one through the residency application process. The school emphasizes a student‑centered approach that prepares future physicians for the demands of modern healthcare.
“They kind of gave you this expectation of professionalism, and I’ve carried that with me throughout everything I’ve done. I think that’s kind of what made that difference in the end when I showed up to the interviews in that professional setting. I felt like I was prepared from day one on how to be a doctor,” said Bhuvan Bodipati, a member of the Class of 2026.
Consistent excellence and national recognition
The 2026 match results follow a 100% placement rate reported for the Class of 2025. LECOM also ranks among the top ten osteopathic medical schools for COMLEX pass rates and awards roughly $4 million in scholarships each year. The institution was recognized in the U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate Schools 2026 Rankings.
What prospective students should consider
For students evaluating osteopathic medical schools, residency match outcomes are a key metric alongside curriculum, clinical opportunities, tuition costs and student support resources. LECOM’s publicly available data, including its “Find Your Specialty” tool, helps applicants explore specialty options and understand the pathways to successful residency placement.
