Two juveniles seriously injured in shooting on Taylor Road, Montgomery

Montgomery police are investigating a shooting that left two juvenile males seriously injured on Taylor Road this afternoon. The incident occurred at approximately 2:10 p.m. in the 2700 block of the road, near the intersection with Vaughn Road and close to a McDonald’s restaurant.

According to Lt. J. Scott Dunn of the Montgomery Police Department, detectives are still in the early stages of the investigation. Preliminary evidence suggests the two victims may have been involved in an altercation that escalated to gunfire, with each possibly shooting the other.

When officers first arrived at the scene, no victims were found on site. Shortly thereafter, they were notified that the two boys had been transported to local hospitals with injuries described as potentially life‑threatening. The exact nature of the injuries has not been released, but officials emphasized the seriousness of the situation.

Community response and call for information

The Montgomery Police Department is urging anyone who witnessed the shooting or has any information that could aid the investigation to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously through CrimeStoppers at (334) 215‑STOP. The department stresses that community cooperation is essential to bring those responsible to justice and to ensure the safety of Montgomery’s neighborhoods.

While the investigation continues, police have not released details about the type of firearm used or any potential motives behind the altercation. The department has also not identified any suspects at this time.

Impact on the community

Incidents involving juvenile gun violence are a growing concern for families and faith‑based groups across Alabama. Local churches and community organizations have repeatedly called for stronger parental guidance, responsible firearm storage, and increased mentorship programs to steer young people away from violence.

Mayor Todd Strange’s office has previously highlighted the importance of preserving safe, family‑friendly environments in Montgomery. The city’s leadership continues to support law‑enforcement efforts while also promoting community‑based initiatives that reinforce traditional family values and personal responsibility.

Next steps

Detectives will continue to gather evidence, interview witnesses, and review any available surveillance footage from nearby businesses, including the McDonald’s mentioned in the initial report. The Montgomery Police Department has pledged to keep the public informed as new information becomes available.

Residents are reminded that reporting suspicious activity and maintaining open lines of communication with law enforcement are vital tools in preventing future tragedies. The department encourages anyone with additional details to contact CrimeStoppers or the Montgomery Police Department directly.
