Howard YMCA Begins $9M Renovation and Expansion Project

The Greater Green Bay YMCA’s west side facility in Howard, Wisconsin, has officially commenced a significant renovation and expansion project. This initiative aims to enhance the community’s access to fitness and recreational facilities.

Project Details

The nearly 30-year-old facility will undergo extensive renovations, including updates to the fitness and locker room areas, as well as improvements to common spaces, play areas, and child-watch facilities. The expansion will introduce a six-lane lap pool and a 7,500-square-foot gymnasium, which will feature space for pickleball enthusiasts. Additionally, the project includes the addition of a physical therapy clinic, further broadening the YMCA’s service offerings to the community.

The groundbreaking ceremony took place on Thursday, marking the start of this ambitious $9 million project, which is expected to be completed by early 2027. The YMCA is actively seeking donations through its ‘Bold Vision. Bright Future.’ capital campaign to support this endeavor.

Community Impact

This project underscores the YMCA’s commitment to fostering community well-being and providing a hub for family-friendly activities. By expanding its facilities, the YMCA aims to accommodate more members and offer a wider range of programs that align with its mission to support healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility.
