Wyoming Judicial Branch Announces Cybersecurity Breach Affecting Court Data

The Wyoming Judicial Branch (WJB) issued a public notice today confirming that a cybersecurity breach at its technology vendor, West Publishing Corporation, compromised limited personal information from historic court records. The breach involved data drawn from the case‑management systems of the Wyoming Supreme Court and the state’s district courts, spanning the years 2015 through 2025.

What information was exposed?

According to the WJB’s preliminary review, the compromised data includes names, residential addresses and dates of birth. No court documents, filings or substantive case files were reported as accessed. The branch emphasized that, to date, there is no evidence the stolen information has been misused.

Impact on Wyoming’s courts

Despite the breach, the WJB assures residents that the incident did not affect the branch’s current networks or the systems actively used by Wyoming’s courts. All court operations across the state continue without interruption, and citizens are encouraged to have confidence in the courts’ ability to resolve legal disputes effectively.

Vendor response and assistance for affected individuals

West Publishing Corporation has responded by offering twelve months of free credit‑monitoring and identity‑theft protection services to anyone potentially impacted. A dedicated webpage has been created where individuals can determine eligibility and enroll in the monitoring program. The page also provides a toll‑free number (1‑833‑918‑5294) for assistance, available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Central Time, excluding major U.S. holidays. Those with speech or hearing impairments can use TTY by dialing 711 and should reference engagement number B171847 when contacting the vendor.

Who should be concerned?

The WJB believes the primary group at risk includes anyone who interacted with a Wyoming district court or the Supreme Court between 2015 and 2025. If you believe you fall into this category, you are urged to visit the vendor’s breach information page or call the toll‑free line for guidance.

Ongoing investigation

The Judicial Branch is working closely with West Publishing Corporation and relevant law‑enforcement agencies to assess the full scope of the breach and to implement any additional safeguards needed to protect Wyoming citizens. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.

What Wyoming residents can do

While the breach does not appear to have resulted in any immediate misuse of personal data, the WJB recommends that affected individuals monitor their credit reports, consider placing fraud alerts, and remain vigilant for any suspicious activity. Free credit‑monitoring services offered by the vendor will help automate this process.

Wyoming’s courts remain a cornerstone of the state’s rule of law, and the Judicial Branch’s swift response underscores its commitment to transparency, accountability, and the protection of personal information.
