The door will open the children’s department to the outside, providing additional room for after‑school activities and summer reading programs. “That sliding glass door is going to be able to serve as a way to expand the children’s department to allow more families to be in there at the same time,” Long said.

The space is currently described as a “hodgepodge” while the library awaits the opening of a new room that will accommodate additional furniture and extended programming.
