Cincinnati Bearcats to Compete in Starkville Regional of NCAA Baseball Tournament

The Cincinnati Bearcats baseball team is set to compete in the Starkville Regional of the 2026 NCAA baseball tournament. With an impressive 37-20 overall record and a 17-13 mark in Big 12 play, the Bearcats have secured the No. 2 seed in this regional competition.

The Bearcats will kick off their tournament journey on Friday against Louisiana-Lafayette, who holds a 39-23 record. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. and promises to be an exciting matchup for both teams.

Joining the Bearcats and the Ragin’ Cajuns in the Starkville Regional are the hosts, Mississippi State, with a 40-17 record and the No. 14 overall seed, as well as Lipscomb, who finished their season with a 29-24 record.

This year marks the third time the University of Cincinnati has participated in the NCAA tournament since the adoption of the Super Regional format in 1999. In their previous appearances in 2019 and 2025, the Bearcats were unable to advance past the Regional round, finishing with a 1-2 record each time.

The winner of the Starkville Regional will advance to face the winner of the Athens Regional, which includes teams such as No. 3 seed Georgia, Boston College, Liberty, and Long Island University. The Bearcats are hopeful to make history by advancing beyond the Regional round for the first time.
