Selena & Salsa Festival Returns to Downtown El Paso

El Paso, Texas is gearing up for the much-anticipated return of the Selena & Salsa festival, set to take place in Downtown El Paso’s Union Plaza on Saturday, May 30. This vibrant, family-friendly event will run from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and promises to be a celebration of music, culture, and community.

A Celebration of Culture and Community

The festival, inspired by the enduring legacy of the beloved singer Selena, will feature over 40 market and food vendors, offering attendees a taste of local flavors and unique shopping opportunities. Live entertainment will be provided by Jezzika Sax, adding to the festive atmosphere. A highlight of the event is the Selena look-alike contest, which invites fans to pay tribute to the iconic artist.

In addition to the music and shopping, the festival will host a salsa tasting competition, where attendees can sample various salsas and help determine the best in the city. This interactive element encourages community participation and showcases the rich culinary traditions of the region.

Community Partnerships

The Downtown Management District has partnered with the La Nube STEAM Discovery Center and the Mexican American Cultural Center to bring this celebration to life. These collaborations highlight the importance of community involvement and support in organizing such events.

The festivities will kick off with the MACC Selena & Salsa Pre-Party on Friday, May 29, offering an additional opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate Selena’s music and cultural impact ahead of the main event.

The event is free and open to the public, making it accessible for all members of the community to enjoy. For more information, interested individuals can visit DowntownElPaso.com or follow @DowntownElPaso on social media.
