Residents in a Toluca Lake neighborhood have expressed concerns about the noise levels coming from the new ‘Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift’ roller coaster at Universal Studios Hollywood. The theme park has announced plans to install additional sound barriers to mitigate the issue.
Sound Reduction Measures
The sound barriers, designed to limit the sounds of riders’ screams and other noise, are among the steps being taken to dampen sound from the ride ahead of its opening. The barriers are expected to be completed in September.
County Supervisor Kathryn Barger stated that her office has worked with the theme park on noise concerns, and community concerns should never be dismissed, particularly when they affect people’s ability to enjoy their homes and neighborhoods.
The ‘Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift’ roller coaster is the park’s first high-speed outdoor roller coaster, located on the upper lot with a red brick garage-themed structure. The track soars over parts of the park and the escalator that connects the upper and lower lots.
