Unfinished Business
The county must replace long-time leadership while unresolved questions involving public health oversight remain. The new 120-bed shelter in Vancouver is approaching operation, with Clark County financially involved. Other issues include interstate bridge and light rail construction, tolling, local access, construction impacts, and the proposed light rail extension into Vancouver.
These issues will extend well beyond the terms of the people making today’s decisions. That is why Clark County’s transition should involve more than simply changing the names on office doors. A publicly accessible transition report should be prepared to identify what has already been decided, what remains unresolved, and how much money has been committed.
