A Natrona County jury found Linda June Treto, 58, not guilty of one count of felony child abuse and failed to reach consensus on a second count, resulting in a mistrial. Treto was accused of causing a black eye and swelling on a 13-year-old girl’s face observed by the Casper Police Department on November 29, 2025.
Case Details
Count One accused Treto of causing injury by throwing a glass bottle at the girl. The jury found her not guilty on that count. Count Two alleged Treto caused the injuries by grabbing the girl by the hair and striking her with a fist. The girl told investigators Treto had struck her multiple times in the face and body.
Treto first told police she had only thrown the bottle at the girl while she was on the top bunk of her bed, but she hadn’t thrown it very hard and didn’t think it hit her in the eye. In a later interview, she confirmed she had been upset and grabbed the girl’s hair in the hallway and hit her in the face with an open hand. She said she didn’t think it would have caused the black eye.
The jury deliberated for about six hours before failing to reach a unanimous decision on the second count, and Treto is presumed innocent unless found or pleading guilty. It is unknown if the state will refile the charge, which carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison.
