Shreveport City Council members are frustrated with the overgrown grass along municipal roads and Interstate 220 exit ramps. The tall grass is blocking drivers’ visibility at several busy off-ramps.
City Response
Public works crews have faced delays due to heavy rain and contractor performance issues. However, the city has recently canceled contracts with underperforming mowing companies and deployed full cutting crews and new contractors to clear overgrown areas.
State maintenance crews are expected to finish cutting grass along I-220 by the end of the week. Meanwhile, city officials are drafting a streamlined mowing plan to present to the City Council for future seasons.
