Aaron Donald, the three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, is weighing a potential comeback to the Los Angeles Rams. Coach Sean McVay provided an update on Donald’s status, stating that the defensive tackle is undergoing an NFL-level training program to determine if his body can withstand the physical demands of another season.
Donald’s Decision
McVay emphasized that no decision has been made and that Donald is taking a careful and structured approach to his potential return. The Rams are prepared to explore a reunion with Donald if he decides to come back. Donald retired in March 2024 after spending all 10 of his NFL seasons with the Rams, recording 111 sacks and earning eight first-team All-Pro selections.
The possibility of a comeback emerged after the Rams acquired star pass rusher Myles Garrett in June. McVay contacted Donald for his opinion on Garrett, and the conversation eventually shifted toward whether Donald might be interested in playing alongside him. McVay made it clear that the decision is Donald’s to make, saying, “He doesn’t owe us anything.”
