A flea infestation has closed part of a popular North Carolina beach. The town of Surf City posted to Facebook that Public Beach Access #25 was closed due to unforeseen maintenance needs. By Friday, that closure was extended until further notice.
Town staff have identified a flea infestation on the access and in the surrounding area. Crews are actively treating the affected areas and will reopen the access once it is safe for public use.
The closed beach access is located at 1138A South Shore Drive in Surf City.
