In Casper, Wyoming, an event called Vota-palooza is set to take place on July 24, aiming to encourage civic engagement among youth in Natrona County. The event, organized by Kylie Wall, will be held at City Park from 1-4 p.m. and will feature candidate tables, food, games, and raffles.
Encouraging Young Voters
Wall hopes that Vota-palooza will not only encourage younger people to register to vote but also inspire them to become more involved in their community. The event will provide an opportunity for attendees to meet with over 30 candidates, learn about the voting process, and register to vote.
The event is designed to be engaging and fun, with activities such as water balloon fights, medieval sword fighting, and other outdoor games. A raffle will also be held, where attendees can earn stamps on their ‘passport’ by speaking with different candidates and be entered into a prize draw.
After the festivities, attendees who are eligible will be encouraged to walk together to the courthouse to register to vote. Wall emphasizes the importance of civic engagement, stating that ‘it is really important to be able to have a say in how your government functions, and that’s exactly what your right to vote is.’ She hopes that Vota-palooza will inspire younger people to take an active role in their community and make their voices heard.
