Alabama Governor Kay Ivey announced the retirement of Lee Sentell, the state’s longest-serving Tourism Director, on Wednesday. Sentell was originally appointed by Governor Bob Riley in 2003. Under his leadership, the Department of Tourism pioneered yearly campaigns highlighting various themes, including small towns, the arts, and natural wonders, winning the national industry’s coveted Mercury award six times in 12 years.
