A Fort Worth dentist has been arrested more than three months after a 4-year-old girl died following a dental procedure, according to the Fort Worth Police Department.
Investigation and Arrest
Police said investigators arrested Dr. Chrishelle Hemphill, 48, on Tuesday, July 15, after obtaining a warrant charging her with injury to a child causing serious bodily injury.
According to police, Fort Worth firefighters responded to a medical call on April 1 at a dental practice in the 5300 block of Sycamore School Road. The child’s mother had brought the girl to the office earlier that morning for a procedure. After the procedure was completed, the child was unresponsive.
The Fort Worth Fire Department transported the girl to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to police. The department’s Crimes Against Children Unit launched an investigation into the child’s death.
Authorities said Hemphill was located at about 3:42 p.m. and taken into custody. She was arrested on a charge of injury to a child causing serious bodily injury.
